Like the ten commandments of Christian/Judaic faith, there are a things you always have to keep in mind while leading a life of faith. These new “commandments” we too need to remember when we consider evangelising.
- Purpose
Be it online or offline, it is always essential to remember who and what you are doing it for, aka the purpose. It is easy to say that you are doing God’s work but it is hard to always act according to that purpose. Which brings us to #2.. - Actions
Actions speak louder than words, and what better way to proclaim the word than through your life. St. Peter urges us to live in a way that others will know we are the followers of Christ, in other words, your life is the bible to those who do not know Christ. Act accordingly. - Thoughts
What you think, that you become. If you discipline your mind to control your thoughts, you will be able to discipline yourself. Every time you are faced with a taxing situation, ask yourself ‘What would Jesus do?’ You will soon notice a change in your actions. - Words
Pleasant words are like a honeycomb,
Sweet and delightful to the soul and healing to the body.
-Proverbs 16:24
Words have the power to kill and to let live. Use your words wisely. - Attitude
A culmination of thoughts, words and actions, a lot of factors can influence a people’s attitude. Your up-bringing, your surroundings, everything matters. But you have the control to change. Season your mind and all will notice a change in your attitude. - Demeanour
Physical manifestation of your attitude is your demeanour, in other words your behaviour. Unless your thoughts, words and actions fall in line with who you are on the inside, your outside will fail to reflect the same. So think Christ inside and out. - R&R
Want a good Reward and Recognition in heaven? Start with Response and Reconciliation on earth. The way you respond to situations also speaks volumes about the kind of person you are, so take your time and work to that. It also helps to apologise when you’re wrong and to forgive when you are wronged.
(Refer the “Our Father” for further details!) - Prayer
Some do it fast, some take it slow. Some steadfast with it, some forgot. Some KISS and tell, the others like to take their time. Whatever maybe your condition always say a prayer. Ask for help to go that extra mile! Some days you might you might feel the power of your prayer, some other days you won’t but that doesn’t mean you stop. - Constant
Try, try and try again. No one is meant to get it right in the first go. Perseverance is the key. Always mind your words, your thoughts, your actions, your demeanour and your prayers. Keep at it! - Mindful
Consistency is the key. It helps to constantly be mindful of your actions and remember who your master is. Remember, “No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other.” -Matthew 6:24. So I can’t insist on this enough.
