“The Lord is my light and my salvation-whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life-of whom shall I be afraid?
-Psalm 27:1
Have we ever thought of how we learn about fear as babies?
It all starts of as very small scars in life. It begins with a small fall as babies that makes them a little scared to pursue the same paths again. But they forget and fall down again, and that’s how they learn how to walk, run and do all the wonderful things that they do as kids.
How does fear have this everlasting tattoo effect in our adult minds? Here’s where we need to think back in our lives of the areas where we have had fear or even the smallest of scars. ‘I was afraid of rain for a long time after I got stuck in a flood, but it took me months to realise that fear was the reason.’ We may also have such small or big things that we are afraid of.
Here is where we write them all down on a piece of paper and submit it all to God and let him take it over from there.
Lord, I am handing over my fear of losing my job, the fear of my boss, the fear that something bad might happen to my family, the fear of not getting a job, the fear of not getting a spouse, my family problems, financial problems and all my struggles into your hand. Give me the grace to get through this day and the peace that passes all understanding. Amen.
